Mary Cassatt
For this studio we were asked to use multiple types of print making. I chose to use magazine scraps and a stamp. My artwork represents the big idea of relationships because it demonstrates the relationship between me and nature. The magazine clippings I chose to use are of things that I enjoy doing in nature (hiking, biking, and canoeing). For the stamp, I chose to engrave my name to represent myself. The stamp of my name mixed with the images of nature show a relationship.
In my own classroom I think that relationships are an important factor in many subjects students could utilize different methods of printmaking to represent the relationship between characters in a book, elements in science, or the relationship they have with something they enjoy.

Do-Ho Suh
For this studio we were asked to create a pop-up representing a home or habitat. This represent the big idea of relationships in several ways. Students could have created a habitat to show the relationship between an animals and their environment. Personally, I chose to represent the relationship between my home and myself. I have a strong relationship with my home because it is where I grew up and spent most of life. The artist we based this studio off of was Do-Ho Suh. Suh creates imagery that people can “carry with them all the time”. By choosing to create a pop-up of my home, I feel connected to something that I have a strong relationship because I can carry this pop-up with me.
In my own classroom I think that the use of pop-ups would be a fun way to integrate art into social studies and into literacy. I believe that relationships is a big idea that is applicable to many subjects. Pop-ups would be a fun way for children to display the idea they have learned or read about. For example, students could create a pop-up to display the relationship between two characters in a story or two historical figures.
